Happy New Year to you!  Fingers crossed 2021 is more fun, more positive and far easier to handle.   Try and spend time being grateful for the little things, I think if 2020 taught us anything, it's to appreciate what is really important to us.

January is the first month of the year and can be glorious in its own right. Frosty mornings, fresh winter air to help you feel alive. Crisp walks in the woods, cheeks so cold they feel flushed when you get inside. Some people find January tricky, we ve all heard about "Blue Monday", here at Helpmeorganics we don't agree with placing one day as the gloomiest day, we want to turn the 18th January yellow. It is Winnies the Poohs birthday (and mine) so there's no way this is a gloomy blue day.



Mental health is very important to us, here is a short excerpt from Winnie the Pooh talking about mental health which I think is lovely by A A Milne…..

"Piglet?" said Pooh

" Yes Pooh" said Piglet 

"Do you ever have days when everything feels...Not Very Okay At All? And sometimes you don't even know why you feel not very okay   you just know that you do"

Piglet nodded his head sagely "oh yes " said Piglet "I definitely have those days"

"Really?" Says Pooh in surprise "I would never have thought that   you always seem so happy and like you have everything in life sorted out"

"Ah" said Piglet " Well here's the thing. There are two things that you need to know, Pooh. The first thing is that even those pigs, and bears, and people, who seem to have everything in life sorted out...they probably haven't.  Actually everyone has these days when they feel Not Very Okay At All. Some people just better at hiding it than others.

"And the second thing you need to know....is that its okay to feel Not Very Okay At All, it can be quite normal, in fact  and all you need to do, on those days when you feel Not Very Okay At All, is come and find me, and tell me. Don't ever feel like you have to hide the fact you re feeling Not Very Okay At All, always come and tell me. Because I will always be there".

Having someone to talk to is very important and listening to others too. Mindfulness is very helpful to ease feelings of anxiety, with every "mindful of calm" product, we include our version of the "3step breathing plan". By concentrating on your breath, your mind can switch off, this allows your anxiety to lessen. By practising mindfulness daily, you are more aware of how you feel and can help others too.

It is a visualisation tool where you stick images or words to encourage you to make changes or work towards something wonderful. We want you to list one thing each month that you are grateful for.

Sleep can be elusive. Some people really struggle to drift off and stay asleep all night. There are many reasons why this is so. Firstly if you have young children, they make wake you or you subconsciously keep “an ear” open just in case they need you. You may have an early start and keep checking the clock, these are temporary reasons for a broken nights sleep.

There are people who struggle every night and we want to help. “help me, it’s way past my bedtime” began its life as a massage oil in my therapy business, a customer asked for help with sleeping as she was going through a tough time personally and could not switch her thoughts off at bedtime. After the massage, I gave her the remaining oil to apply to her stomach every night before bed, she returned a month later, I could tell by her face that things had improved. She had slept and that blend became our first scent for all the products now. We know it works but how?

Lavender essential oil contains natural chemical elements of Limonene and Linalool. Linalool can increase the sedating hormone adenosine which can help you fall asleep faster, this element gives Lavender its fragrance. Limonene is found in citrus fruits and is a terpene, it has been found that using limonene before bed will help to calm nerves and promote restful sleep. The two chemical elements together make Lavender oil a powerful sleep aid and when blended with Petitgrain, the two combine to calm you thoughts. Petitgrain is rich in calming ester Linalyl acetate (also found in Lavender) and linalool, Petitgrain possesses calming and balancing properties that inhibit several neurotransmitters and have a sedative and pain-relieving effect.

We have added eucalyptus to help clear your sinuses, help with snoring and ease headaches, another reason for sleeping poorly and ginger. Ginger contains a ingredient called Magnolol. This acts as a mild sedative and effectively helps people fall into a deep, peaceful sleep, as some people can find ginger a stimulant, we have added a very small amount, just enough to help.

We recommend using our massage oil to massage your abdomen (in a clockwise direction). Your stomach is the centre of your body and will help the oil enter your body and send neuro transmitted messages to the brain to help you relax. Our room spray is a wonderful way to add that instant burst of restful scent in a room. 1-2 bursts in 2 corners is perfect, for children 1 burst in a room. For very young children 1-2 bursts on the landing.
