Hello 2023

“and now we welcome the New Year, full of things that have never been” - Rainer Maria Riike

May we be the first to wish you a Happy New Year! There are many traditions for the first day of the year, some dating back centuries. The ones that I like are;

  • Taking pieces of coal (or whiskey, bread, money) into someone’s home (not yours) to bring good luck to the new year.

  • In Ireland, people go through their front doors at the stroke of midnight and out through the back door, this is believed to drive away bad luck.

  • Another tradition I do, on the first day of the month, I blow a tiny amount of cinnamon powder in through the front door, and you set your intention for the forthcoming month. Some people throw cinnamon at their front doors on the first day to attract abundance.

I am sure that you have your own traditions to welcome in a New Year, I think these are fun to do, and who knows, there may be something in them.

A New Year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the year which has just passed, it is a really good process to do, mainly to accept that, during any year there will be good times and not so good times. To realise that it is okay to accept our feelings whether they are happy, worried, angry, sad, jealous or joyous, emotion is not constant.

So, we have celebrated the arrival of 2023, reflected on 2022 and now its time to decide what you want to achieve by this time next year. You may want to learn to play the piano, finally visit the place youve always yearned to visit, adopt a new hobby, change your job, have a baby, move house, get married or clear that credit card debt.. It is an endless list but very personal to you.

Write them down, you decide whether to keep your list private or stuck on the fridge. By writing them down, you have set your intention and you will work towards achieving your goal.

What are our plans for 2023

Each year, just like you, I reflect on Helpmeorganics year, what was a success and was didn’t work as we planned, I actually really enjoy this whole process, it is very energising.

  • We have decided to close our Etsy shop, i have had a love/not love relationship with Etsy for a while now, they seem to have shifted to being a lot bossier and don’t understand the benefits of essential oils! I also find that they constantly push us to expand to Europe, America and the greater World. Helpmeorganics is not ready to export, I am more than happy to concentrate our time here in the UK. So yesterday, we closed our Etsy shop. All of our products are available to buy here and also some products are available in our AndSoToShop, they are a UK based Retail platform, run by a wonderful group who promote shopping indie, small and creative really passionately. If you love to support small businesses, have a look at their platform.

  • This month will see the arrival of a NEW gift box and product, soy wax melts. As part of our The Seasons Collection, we have designed a new box featuring wax melts for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, a melt burner, and soy tea lights. Keep an eye on our social media and email for details on the launch.

  • As part of our Wellness Therapies, I am really excited that I am attending a course on Subtle Reflexology. This is a course I have wanted to do for a long time as it is a blend of reflexology to help deeper with your energy. As a reiki therapist and reflexologist, I understand that your energy is everything. I have plans to have a Facebook group to help you and also I will have a podcast up and running by the end of the year.

  • Our candles have just become larger! We have increased the size to 250g, so they will last longer with less waste. The new price is £18 and will be available to order mid January.

Only a short version of our monthly blog but spend the January days, planning what you would like to do. Get out in the fresh air, fill your lungs with the freshness of January and lets protect our nature.

And finally, January is Veganuary. Eating a plant based diet has many benefits

  • Animal welfare

  • Kinder to our beautiful planet

  • Healthier for you

  • You can grow your own food

If you have never thought of eating a vegan diet, give it a go this month, but cook your meals from scratch to ensure you are absorbing maximum nutrients.

Our products are made with 100% vegan ingredients, they are never tested on animals and our suppliers produce certificates to ensure that the supply chain adopts the same ethics.

I love new beginnings, if i were in charge of the calendar, every day would be January 1st, you can feel the energy, it’s wonderful
— Linda
