What is Homeostatis?

Your body is a complex mix of chemical and physical conditions. For your body to be healthy, feel energised and calm, all your organs need to be balanced and stable, this is called Homeostatis.

There are many factors which cause your body to be out of balance

  • stress

  • diet

  • ageing

  • fitness

  • exposure to toxins eg alcohol, drugs

  • poor nutrition

  • illness

  • poor sleep

  • hormone changes

But you can restore homeostasis by following some simple tips

  • eat a balance, plant based diet

  • eat a rainbow every day

  • drink plenty of water

  • practise mindful breathing, yoga and meditation

  • exercise daily

  • adopt a healthy sleep/wake cycle

  • accept yourself

Walk Barefoot

The human body carries a slight positive charge, our cells are designed to conduct electrical impulses, electricity is required for the nervous system to send signals throughtout the body and to the brain in order for us to think peacefully, move our body and feel energised. The Earth has a slight negative charge so when we walk barefoot, we are grounded, we earth and discharge our excess energy, this has a very strong healing effect on the mind and body.

When was the last time you walked barefoot along the beach? Feeling the sand under the feet is incredible. Close your eyes and notice the sensations around you, the texture, sounds and smells ofd the seashore will fill your senses. You can feel the same from a walk around your lawn.

Walking barefoot allows you to feel the positive energy inviting you to release tension, emotion and embrace the earths energy.

Autumn Equinox

On Sunday 22nd September we will be celebrating the Autumn Equinox or Mabon. This is the second time this year that the daylight hours will equal the night time hours and is a time for gratitude, to give thanks and to revel in the beauty of Autumn. The scents and colours of Autumn are incredible.

We have created a New Letterbox Gift filled with products to help you embrace the Solstice. Its a time to light a candle, write down things you are grateful for, its a time of balance.

Send someone special our Autumn Equinox Letterbox Gift so they can say hello to Autumn, why not arrange a box to come to you too?

Box Breathing

Research has shown that deep breathing exercises can regulate your automatic nervous system, helping to lower your blood pressure and creates a sense of calm. When our nervous system is activated, we can go into a fight or flight state, our breathing becomes shallow and quick leading to a feeling of anxiety, try this breathing exercise to help.

  • Find a comfortable positive and exhale fully so that all oxygen is out of your lungs

  • Hold then inhale for a count of 6

  • Hold again for a count of 4

  • Exhale for a count of 4

  • And hold for a count of 4 before inhaling

  • Repeat this 4 times

  • A good tip is to place your hands on your stomach so that you can feel you are breathing correctly

Another good idea is to do the Butterfly Hold.

  • Stand or sit and place your arms across your chest so that each hand touches your shoulders

  • Take a breath in and tap your fingers alternately and exhale

  • Keep tapping and allow your breathing to settle to a natural rhythm

  • Try a smile to release endorphins into your blood stream and even sway if you feel you want to

Try using the following blends to help you rebalance your emotional self

  • help me have a mindful of calm - anxiety reducing frankincense is blended with balancing gernaium bourbon and lavender to help you unwind and quieten your thoughts

  • help me, apparently i need to chill out” - mood balancing palmarosa, geranium bourbon and ylang ylang is blended with relaxing, restoring lavender to help you feel peaceful
