Living an organic zero waste life - September Chapter 9 of 12

Inspirational quote - "Reach for the moon, if you miss, you'l land in the stars"

September is a very busy month. This month we highlight the benefits of eating and using organic products. Why should we, what are the benefits?

Ÿ   When crops are grown organically, the farmer uses no pesticides or artificial fertilisers which protects the micro organisms which live in the soil. Pollinators are welcomed into the fields by the wildflowers, hedges and trees which in turn provides food for birds.

Ÿ   The whole philosophy of organic farming protects the land that grows our food without causing harm to the soil, wildlife, insects.

Ÿ   For us eating the food, we ingest no chemicals which can cause inflammation, they tend to have a higher level of nutrients.

Ÿ   We must protect our soil structure. If we continually destroy the delicate layers in the soil, then all we will be left with is dust. There is a big movement towards the "no dig" way of growing food and harnessing all the benefits in manure which supports wonderful worms. So in our gardens, try it! We have, and our veg, flowers and fruit have flourished. They need less water, have less need for feed and harbour less pests.

Ÿ   Try and use organic household cleaners around the home. There are some amazing hacks with cider vinegar, bicarb of soda, lemon juice. You can add our "help me, I'm feeling under the weather" essential oil blend to a spray bottle for an antibacterial cleanser. Instead of using all these wipes, add 3-4 drops into a spray bottle, highly effective and less waste.

Ÿ   We are an organic company, every ingredient in our products has been grown and produced with minimal impact on nature.  Using organic products within your home are healthier, smell beautiful and emit only therapeutic aromas.  They make cost more but you need less.

The only way big business will change their ways, get on board and realise that organic is the only way to truly heal our planet, is to hit them in the pocket

September is also the month to highlight Zero Waste. We take great care to use packaging that can be reused, recycled or repurposed. We want you to reuse every little bit of everything from us again and again, we would love to see your ideas. Tag us into your photos @helpmeorganics

make great plant misters

And finally,  we are very excited for this, September is Sourdough Month, its the healthiest bread for our digestive system and lots of fun to make. Eating sourdough has many health benefits

Ÿ   Rich in minerals and vitamins, sourdough bread is a good source of iron and selenium

Ÿ   A prebiotic and Probiotic. This is helpful for your digestion system as it supports the "good bacteria" in your gut

Ÿ   More easily digested due to the fermentation process, this breaks down gluten that xan cause bloating.

Ÿ   The lactic acid in the bread allows your body to absorb the nutrients

Ÿ   A good source of fibre which helps you feel fuller for longer

Our news ....where do we begin!

We have been asked many times "when will our room sprays come in bigger bottles". Ta dah!! You can now buy our rooms sprays in 100ml bottles from our website, etsy and folksy.  We use organic ingredients for you to use anywhere.  Give them a quick shake to mix everything together, we suggest one burst in 2 corners of a room for that perfect level of scent. Once your bottle is empty, they make wonderful plant misters.

If your child is nervous, we suggest 1-2 drops of "help me have a mindful" essential oil blend on a tissue under their pillow. For young children, place the tissue slightly away from the bed, the oils will gently diffuse through the night.  You can spray 1-2 bursts of our room spray in 2 corners of a bedroom to help them sleep, we have blended Frankincense, Geranium Bourbon and Lavender to help. If they feel overwhelmed, try doing some breathing exercises and put some quiet soft music on to help quieten their mind.
